YouTube description formatter

Paste a rough description and get a tidy, ready-to-paste version — spacing cleaned, chapters sorted, links and hashtags organised.

The formatted description appears below with a character count (limit 5,000).

About this tool

YouTube descriptions allow up to 5,000 characters and support chapter timestamps in the form 0:00 Title, with the first chapter starting at 0:00. This formatter normalises line endings, trims stray spaces, collapses runs of blank lines, optionally sorts chapter lines into time order while leaving other lines in place as a block, and gathers scattered hashtags onto a single closing line. Links are left untouched so URLs are never broken by reformatting.

Common questions

How should YouTube chapters be written? One per line as timestamp, space, then title — for example 0:00 Intro. List at least three chapters, start the first at 0:00, and keep them in time order for chapters to appear.

Where do hashtags belong in a description? Hashtags can appear in the description; the first three are often shown above the title. Gathering them on one line at the end keeps the main text readable.

Does formatting change links? No. URLs are preserved exactly. Only whitespace, blank lines, chapter order and hashtag placement are adjusted, according to the options selected.
