About this tool

Every internet connection presents a public IP address to the sites it visits. Home networks share one public address across all devices (the router translates), which is why every device at home shows the same IPv4 here. If a VPN is on, this shows the VPN exit address instead — the quickest way to confirm a VPN is really carrying the traffic.

Common questions

Why is the IPv6 box sometimes empty? Not every network offers IPv6 yet. An empty IPv6 result means the connection reached the lookup over IPv4 only — normal for many home and mobile networks.

Can a website owner see this address? Yes — the public IP is part of every connection a device makes, along with browser details. It identifies the connection and its rough area, not a name or street address.

How this one works: an IP lookup has to ask an outside service what address the request came from — this tool asks ipify (api.ipify.org), so the connection's address is seen by ipify, exactly as with any website visit. Nothing is stored by this page.
