Enter start, finish and unpaid break for each day worked. Daily hours, the weekly total, and gross pay are worked out below.
| Day | Start | Finish | Break (min) | Hours |
|---|
Hours are calculated finish minus start minus the unpaid break, with shifts that run past midnight handled correctly. Overtime is split at the weekly threshold entered (40 is the common US standard) and paid at 1.5 times the rate when a rate is given. This is an arithmetic helper, not payroll advice — employers round times and apply local rules in ways that can shift the final figure slightly.
How are breaks handled? Break minutes are subtracted as unpaid time. Whether a break is legally unpaid depends on its length and local rules — short rest breaks are paid in many places, meal breaks usually are not.
What if a shift crosses midnight? Enter the real start and finish times; a finish earlier than the start is treated as the next day, so a 22:00–06:00 shift counts as 8 hours before break.
