Remove line breaks

Paste hard-wrapped text, the kind copied from PDFs and emails, and get flowing paragraphs back.

About this tool

Text copied out of PDFs, scanned documents and plain-text emails arrives hard-wrapped: a line break in the middle of every sentence where the column happened to end. Joining naively leaves words broken across lines; this tool unwraps correctly, replacing single breaks with a space (or nothing, for text wrapped mid-word in some exports), while the paragraph mode preserves blank lines as real paragraph boundaries so the document's structure survives. The repeated-space tidy-up removes the double spaces that unwrapped PDF text usually carries.

The result replaces the input's layout only, wording is untouched, which is exactly what is wanted when rescuing text for an essay, a document or a dataset. Hyphenated words split across a line break (exam- ple) are the one case worth eyeballing afterwards: in 'space' mode they come out as two words, and a quick find for '- ' catches them.

Common questions

Which mode is right for PDF text? 'Space, but keep paragraph breaks' for most documents. If the PDF was generated from narrow columns and words split mid-word, try 'Nothing' and compare a paragraph.

Does it fix hyphenated line splits? Not automatically, the tool cannot always tell a real hyphen from a wrap hyphen. After unwrapping, search the result for a hyphen followed by a space to find the split points.

Can it handle a whole document? Yes, paste length is limited only by the browser. Very large documents (book-length) process fine, a second or two at most.

Private by design: this tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing typed, pasted, or opened here is uploaded, stored, or tracked.
