A clean, professional payment receipt, items, amounts, payment method and balance, ready to print or save as PDF.
A receipt proves a specific payment happened: who paid, who received, for what, how much, and by what method. This template generates exactly that, an itemized receipt with computed line totals and a grand total, a receipt number for your records, and the payment method (recording the last four digits of a card, never the whole number). Printed or saved as a PDF, it serves for freelance work, private sales, deposits, tuition, repairs, any payment where a paper trail matters more than a platform's email confirmation.
Two practices make receipts actually useful: number them sequentially and keep your copy, the receipt number field exists because 'that payment in March' is unfindable, while 'receipt 1042' is not. And note that a receipt is a record for both sides: for tax purposes it supports (but does not replace) invoices and bookkeeping; businesses with real volume need accounting software, while occasional sellers need exactly this, a clear, dated, itemized acknowledgment.
What is the difference between a receipt and an invoice? An invoice asks for payment (before); a receipt confirms payment happened (after). Many freelancers send both, this template is the after document.
Should I include full card numbers? Never. Last four digits only, as the example shows, full card numbers on paper receipts are a security hazard with no benefit.
Is a printed receipt valid without a signature? Generally yes as a record of payment; the 'Received by' line adds weight for cash payments, where no bank trail exists.
