Paycheck & pay stub calculator

Estimate what actually lands in the bank account. Enter hourly or salary pay and get a pay-stub style breakdown: gross, federal tax, Social Security, Medicare, state tax, and net.

Estimate only, for planning. Federal figures use 2024 brackets and standard deduction; state tax is a flat rate you supply. Not tax advice.

About this tool

The federal estimate uses the 2024 standard deduction ($14,600) and single-filer brackets, annualizes the pay, then divides back into pay periods. Social Security is 6.2% up to the $168,600 wage base; Medicare is 1.45%. State tax is a flat percentage you enter, since state rules vary widely. This is an estimate for planning — real stubs differ with filing status, pre-tax deductions, and local taxes.

Common questions

Why is my real paycheck different? Filing status, 401(k) and insurance deductions, garnishments, and city taxes all change the real number. The calculator covers the standard federal pieces and a flat state rate.

Which brackets are used? 2024 federal single-filer brackets with the $14,600 standard deduction. Married filing jointly uses a $29,200 deduction and the wider joint brackets — select it in the form.
