Work out a parking charge from entry and exit times, an hourly rate and a daily maximum, with an optional grace period.
Most car parks bill each started hour and cap the charge per 24-hour period at a daily maximum. This calculator applies a grace period first, rounds the remaining time up to whole billed hours, then applies the daily cap to each 24-hour block. Tariffs vary — some sites use flat entry fees, free periods or lost-ticket charges — so enter the posted tariff for the site being priced.
Why is partial time billed as a full hour? Most hourly tariffs charge for each hour or part of an hour. The calculator follows that convention; a site with per-minute billing will produce a slightly lower charge.
How is the daily maximum applied? Each 24-hour block from entry is capped at the daily maximum entered. A 30-hour stay is therefore one capped day plus six hourly charges, unless the site defines its day differently.
What if the exit is before the entry? Check the dates as well as the times. An exit on the following day needs the following day's date, which the date-time fields capture.
