Enter the hourly rate and the hours split between regular and overtime, and see the gross pay broken out line by line.
Under the US Fair Labor Standards Act, most hourly employees earn at least 1.5× their regular rate for hours over 40 in a workweek ("time and a half"); some employers and states pay 2× ("double time") for Sundays, holidays, or hours past 12 in a day. This calculator applies whichever multiplier you choose to the overtime hours you enter.
Does overtime start after 8 hours a day or 40 a week? Federally, after 40 hours in a workweek. A few states (notably California) also have daily rules. The calculator lets you enter the overtime hours either way.
Is this gross or take-home pay? Gross. For an estimated net, run the result through the Paycheck Calculator on this site.
