Open a Wavefront OBJ file for a shaded, rotatable preview, with triangle count and bounding-box dimensions.
The file is opened locally in your browser and is never uploaded.
This viewer parses the v (vertex), vt (texture coordinate), vn (normal) and f (face) records of a Wavefront OBJ file. Polygon faces with more than three sides are triangulated as a fan, and the mesh is rendered with a basic shaded material so the shape is easy to check. If the OBJ refers to an external .mtl material library, that file is not loaded: the viewer continues without it and shows the geometry in a single colour, which is stated here so a plain render is not mistaken for a broken file. Texture images are likewise not applied. Drag to rotate and scroll to zoom.
My OBJ references an MTL file. What happens? The material library is ignored gracefully. The geometry still renders, in one shaded colour, without the colours or textures the MTL would have defined.
Are quad and polygon faces supported? Yes. Faces with four or more vertices are split into triangles with a fan triangulation before rendering.
Does the viewer use the normals in the file? Smooth normals are recomputed from the geometry for display. The original vn records are read as part of the face format but the preview does not depend on them.
