Internet speed test

Measure download and upload speed against Cloudflare’s test servers — the same network that serves much of the web.

For the fairest result: pause other downloads and streaming, and test near the router.

About this tool

The download test times how fast test files arrive from speed.cloudflare.com; the upload test times posting test data back. Results reflect the whole path — Wi-Fi signal, router, and provider — so a wired test next to the router is the cleanest measure of the connection itself. VPNs and proxies will lower the result.

Common questions

Why is my result lower than my plan speed? Wi-Fi distance and interference are the usual cause. Test wired, close to the router, with other downloads paused, before blaming the provider.

Does the test count against a data cap? The full test moves roughly 30–60 MB. On a tight mobile cap, run the download-only option by stopping after the first result.

Disclosure: this test exchanges test data with Cloudflare’s speed test servers (speed.cloudflare.com) — that is how the measurement works. No files or personal data are sent; the payload is random test data generated for the test. Results are approximate.
