What an hourly wage really adds up to — and the reverse.
The math assumes the hours are paid every week of the year (52 weeks). That’s exact for salaried work and optimistic for hourly work with unpaid time off — if you take two unpaid weeks, subtract them: multiply the weekly figure by the weeks actually worked. Figures are gross (before taxes and deductions).
What’s the quick rule of thumb? At 40 hours/week, hourly × 2,000 ≈ annual in thousands — $25/hour ≈ $52,000. (Exact: × 2,080.)
Does this include overtime? No — it’s straight-time math. Regular overtime at 1.5× adds up fast; add it separately if it’s guaranteed rather than occasional.
