Convert an assignment score into a percentage and a letter grade — by points, by questions wrong, or directly from a percentage.
A percentage grade is points earned divided by total points, multiplied by 100. The letter grade shown uses the common 10-point plus/minus scale (A from 90, B from 80, C from 70, D from 60). Individual schools and instructors may round differently or use a different scale, so a syllabus scale takes precedence over the table here.
What letter grade is 84 percent? On the standard scale used here, 84% is a B. An 87–89% is a B+ and 80–82% is a B-.
How many questions can be missed on a 25-question test to keep an A? An A starts at 90%, so at most 2 questions can be missed (23/25 = 92%). Missing 3 gives 88%, a B+.
Does the calculator round percentages? Results are shown to two decimal places without rounding up to the next letter grade, because rounding policy varies by instructor.
