Domain expiration lookup

Check when a domain name expires, when it was registered, and who its registrar is, using public RDAP registration data.

Coverage varies by top-level domain (TLD): not every registry publishes RDAP data or an expiration date. Results come from public RDAP records and may lag recent renewals.

About this tool

This tool queries RDAP, the Registration Data Access Protocol that replaced WHOIS for most domain registries, through rdap.org, which routes the query to the RDAP server for the domain's top-level domain. The record usually includes the registration date, the expiration date, the last update, the registrar, the domain status codes, and the nameservers. Coverage varies by TLD: some registries publish complete RDAP records, others publish partial records with no expiration date, and a few publish none at all, so an empty or incomplete result is a limit of the registry data rather than proof that a domain is free.

Common questions

Why does a domain return no result? RDAP coverage varies by top-level domain. Some registries do not publish an RDAP service, do not expose an expiration date, or restrict parts of the record, so a lookup can return no data even for a registered domain. A missing result does not prove a domain is unregistered or available.

Does looking up a domain change or renew it? No. A lookup only reads public registration data. It does not renew, extend, reserve, or register the domain, and it does not change its expiration date.

Why might the expiration date differ between services? Services read different registry records and update at different times. A recent renewal can take time to appear, and some registries show the registry expiry rather than a registrar's internal renewal date. The registry RDAP record is the most direct source.

Lookup disclosure: the domain name entered here is sent to rdap.org, which may redirect the request to the registry's RDAP server for that top-level domain, in order to retrieve its public registration record. No other input is sent anywhere, and nothing is stored or tracked by this page. The lookup itself runs from your browser.
