Commission calculator

Work out commission on sales at a flat rate, or with a higher second-tier rate above a threshold, plus an optional base salary for total pay.

About this tool

Flat commission is simply the sales amount multiplied by the rate. With a second tier, sales up to the threshold earn the base rate and only the amount above the threshold earns the higher rate — a common structure that rewards passing a target without re-rating the whole book of sales. Adding a base salary gives the total pay for the period. Enter 0 as the threshold to switch the tier off entirely.

Common questions

How does the second tier apply? Only to sales above the threshold. Sales up to the threshold earn the first rate, and the excess earns the higher second-tier rate.

What if sales fall below the threshold? The tier never engages and the whole amount earns the first rate, exactly like a flat commission.

Is the base salary part of the commission? No. The salary is shown separately and added afterwards, so the commission figure stays visible on its own for checking against a pay statement.
