About this tool

Barcodes are drawn with the JsBarcode library. CODE128 accepts almost any text and is the safe default for internal labels. EAN-13 and UPC are retail formats with strict rules: EAN-13 needs 12 or 13 digits, UPC needs 11 or 12, and the final digit is a check digit the tool calculates automatically when one digit is left off.

Common questions

Which format should I use? For anything you control yourself — shelf labels, asset tags, warehouse bins — use CODE128. EAN-13 and UPC are for retail products sold through stores that assign those numbers.

Will a phone scan it? Yes — any barcode scanner app reads all four formats. Test-scan the PNG before printing a batch.
